Thereby InterBioScreen Ltd. continues publishing a series
of monographs entitled Selected Methods for Synthesis and Modification of
Heterocycles and devoted to the current aspects of heterocyclic chemistry
based on the recent data obtained by chemists from Russia, republics of the
former Soviet Union (CIS), and Europe.
Volumes 1 and 2 of the series have been published by IBS Press, Moscow in 2003.
Volume 1 is a collection of the review articles on the synthesis and modification
of N-containing heterocycles while volume 2, on those of O- and S-containing
heterocyclic systems.
As suggested by the International Editorial Board, we devote our forthcoming
volumes to the key classes of heterocycles: this (third) volume deals with the
chemistry of synthetic indole systems while the fourth, with the chemistry
and biological activity of natural indole-containing compounds.
The reviews collected in this volume cover wide range of indoles: from the simplest
representatives to complicated synthetic and naturally occurring condensed systems.
Great attention is given to the biological activity and other applications of
indoles, which makes the book useful and instructive not only to synthetic chemists
but also to biochemists, pharmacologists, and medicinal chemists.
According to our tradition, volume 3 also includes about 60 most interesting
synthetic protocols for the preparation of various indole systems suggested
by researchers from Russia, CIS and European countries.
